CPV Valley Energy Center

CPV Valley Energy Center is a natural gas combined-cycle electric power generator located in the town of Waywayanda, capable of generating 680 MW. The project is sited on a 122-acre parcel in close proximity to Interstate 84. This facility can produce enough electricity to power more than 650,000 homes, helping to meet the demand for local, reliable power in the Hudson Valley. The facility utilizes advanced air-cooling which reduces water use approximately 85% compared to traditional facilities.

After a lengthy eight-year review and approval process, the project commenced with a total construction timeline of thirty months. The project included 200,000 yd3 of fill and 20,000 yd3 of concrete as well as a large quantity of steel and welding inspection. Advance Testings scope of services included soil compaction testing, asphalt field inspection and testing, reinforcing steel inspection, concrete testing, structural steel inspection, bolting inspection, non-destructive testing of welds (UT/MT/PT) and inventory management of welding rods for the contractor.
